Writing · CONSCIOUS CREATION
Becoming
Everything you are creating is also creating you.
The Real Work Is Who You Become
We usually think the purpose of manifestation or creation is the outcome.
The business. The offer. The financial abundance. The content. The next version of our life.
But what if it’s something deeper?
Rick Rubin, in his book The Creative Act, says: “The real work is the person we become in the process of making the creation.”
I might add to that and say—it’s also the process of returning to who we truly are.
And if that’s true, then everything you’re creating… is also creating you.
Why We Actually Get Stuck
When we feel stuck, we often think it’s because of:
- Lack of clarity
- Lack of time
- Not knowing what to do
But most of the time, that’s not really it.
What shows up instead looks and feels like:
- Doubt
- Imposter syndrome
- Fear
- Confusion
And we tell ourselves:
- “I’m not ready yet”
- “I need more experience”
- “What if it’s not good?”
- “This feels scary”
But underneath all of that can be something deeper:
You can sense who you would have to become… and part(s) of you—your protective parts—aren’t fully ready for that yet.
Creation Reveals You
Creating something meaningful will always bring things up.
It reveals:
- Your relationship to being seen
- Your fear of judgment
- Your need for control
- Your level of self-trust
- Even grief
This is why it can feel uncomfortable.
It’s not just about doing the work. It’s about truly becoming a different version of yourself—and that can genuinely feel like a lot for our parts.
The Real Resistance
Parts of us may be afraid of:
- Failure
- Rejection
- Getting it wrong
But they are also helping us avoid:
- Being fully visible
- Outgrowing old identities
- Changing how people relate to us
- Taking on more responsibility
Again: Your protectors aren’t fully ready for you to become someone new yet.
The Edge
Every meaningful creation has a point where things shift.
At first, it feels exciting. Clear. Full of possibility.
Then it starts to feel:
- Heavy
- Unclear
- Easy to avoid
That’s the edge.
And it doesn’t mean something is wrong.
It means you’re being asked to grow.
The Real Question
At some point, the question changes.
It’s no longer:
- “Can I do this?”
- “Will this work?”
It becomes:
Am I willing to become the person who does this?
The Choice
At that edge, you always have two options:
- Stay who you’ve been
- Or become who this requires
And your life will reflect whichever one you choose repeatedly.
Important: The Resistance Isn’t Bad
The part of you that resists?
It’s not broken. It’s protective. It’s trying to keep things familiar and safe.
So don’t shame it. But also don’t let it run the show.
Be-friend it. Get to know it. Ask it for guidance.
A Better Way to Look at It
Instead of asking, “What should I do next?” try asking:
Who is this asking me to become?
Because the truth is:
You don’t rise to your goals. You rise to the level of the person you’re willing to become.
Final Reflection
Take a moment and be honest with yourself:
- What am I currently creating?
- Who would I have to become to fully step into this?
- And where am I still holding back?
The real work isn’t the thing you’re building.
The real work is YOU, my friends.
With love.
