Desire is a hidden identity

Your desire is not only showing you what you want. It is showing you who you are becoming.

There are many different versions of us living inside – different parts carrying different beliefs, fears, expectations, and ways of seeing what is possible for us.

The part of you that brings forward a Desire may be the part that can already sense your potential. It can see a version of you who is capable of holding, receiving, or experiencing what you want.

To this part, the Desire may not feel unrealistic or far away. It may feel natural – like something that belongs to you.

But so it goes, this is not the ONLY part living inside our beautiful, complex systems.

Other parts may be afraid of what would happen if you received it. Some may fear disappointment, or change, or visibility, responsibility, loss, or becoming different from the people you love.

Others may carry beliefs about what you deserve or what is realistically available to you.

So the part with the Desire can begin to feel like something “out there” – something outside of you that you have to work toward, attract, or finally become good enough to receive.

But perhaps the deeper invitation is not only to get the thing.

Perhaps it is to become familiar with the version of you who already knows how to experience it.

How does that version of you move through the day?

What does she/he/they believe is possible?

How does he relate to himself?

What does she allow herself to receive?

And what does he no longer need to prove?

This means noticing that some of the experience you are reaching for may be available to you now.

When we do this, desire becomes less about reaching a distant place and more about building a relationship with an emerging identity.

The desire is not necessarily evidence that something is missing.

It may be evidence that a part of you can already sense who you are becoming.

Maybe what you want represents freedom, safety, love, creativity, belonging, connection, ease, or expansion. Can you begin to let your system experience even a little of that today?

When we do this, Desire becomes less about reaching a distant place and more about allowing and building a relationship with an emerging identity.

The Desire is not necessarily evidence that something is missing.

It may be evidence that a part of you can already sense who you are becoming.
